They basically talk about all the reasons why the Hobbit movies are terrible for this whole video. See (Smol Athena 3) for most of the other things they talk about after that. Play-by-play of topics discussed: 0:00: Technical difficulties 3:02: Introductory remarks feat. Evil bebe Athena 4:45: Icarus: Rising is missing a few letters/Blue compliments in-game architecture (and raises his volume a bit) 6:59: The Hobbit: The Scouring of the Trilogy begins 8:19: To summarize... "They were trying to make Lord of the Rings again, but they were using the Hobbit." 10:39: Samwise Gamgee is best boi 12:02: Main character should be Bilbo, but they tried to make it Thorin 14:06: You mean to tell me that the love triangle WASN'T Tolkien's OTP? Preposterous! 15:02: Brief interlude to talk about the Valentine's Day video 15:50: Back to our regularly scheduled ragging on Thorin's nonexistent character arc 18:30: Beeb Athena break/"OSP condones sending a message" again 19:59: Snow and cold and gross = stay inside/"I move within indoor spot." 20:40: Cyan's braces (not the teeth kind)/Statues ranked by pose 22:11: Arson is only a crime in large amounts 22:42: Red says, "Uh oh... uhhhh, Blue?" and stream crashes

Fan Theory: Dwarves of both sexes have beards (evidenced by Lord of the Rings movie, Discworld book series). In "The Hobbit" movie, some dwarves have beards down to their belts, other dwarves have beards best described as "sexy stubble". You can tell which dwarves are female (in The Hobbit especially)--they're the one's with the lesser beards.

Of course Smol Athena went a bit off the rails. If Nero taught us anything, giving small kids great power won't go smoothly.

Maybe get a cheap phone, a pair of headphones, and a separate Google account, then join the stream on that so you can check on the live-ness, volume, etc, as part of the audience.

22:11 - The "Arson is not a crime" meme is, I think, right-wing conspiracists using satire to argue that the media is ignoring the many (supposed) arsons in West Coast states (supposedly) set by antifa and BLM (supposedly) to frame Trump for wilderness mismanagement. The professional media with standards refuses to claim antifa and BLM were behind the wildfires because they weren't. They were mostly started by human accidents, not arsons, and the few arson arrests from that time period that people like Glenn Beck were able to find arrest records for were, with precisely one exception, devoid of any known political motive, and most of those crimes were declared by those same arrest records to have caused no damage (which is not what arrest records say about people who deliberately start wildfires). A bit of it might also be left-wingers and anti-conspiracists mocking those right-wing conspiracists, or trolls pretending to believe garbage for the lols. Or it could be something else. I don't know ALL the memes.

Bilbo, Samwise, and Cirdan the Shipwright of the Gray Havens are the only three people in Middle-Earth's history that ever willingly gave up a Great Ring of Power. One of the three was one of the greatest and most powerful of the High Elves and literally the only person capable of making ships that can sail to Valinor, the land of the gods. He gave his ring, Nenya, the Ring of Fire, to none other than Gandalf, citing that the Grey Pilgrim would have greater need of it and make better use of it than he would in the peaceful western shore, and supposedly this took all his will to do. The other two were regular ass hobbits. Both of them also not only gave up a Great Ring, they gave up the Ring that both CLINGS HARDEST and ACTIVELY CORRUPTS the mind of its bearer into caring only about it. And one of them gave it up after it had been allowed to influence him for FIFTY GODDAMN YEARS, with only a MINOR struggle between his will to leave it behind and its ability to dominate him, while the other handed it over with zero hesitation while it was trying its HARDEST to cling to and corrupt him. Conclusion: Hobbits are more awesome than the simple farm folk they seem to be, and despite doing absolutely nothing else of note Bilbo Baggins is probably the most noteworthy person in Middle-Earth's history.

@The Irish Viking If you ever want to talk about that subject with me, I'm open. And yes! I have a 1960s single volume copy of LOTR, withpainted illustrations commissioned by Tolkien, and the filmmakers had to have used these as production references, Helms Deep, Isengard, Minas Tirith, and Morgul, the Black Gate, ALL dead-on to the illustrations in the book.

@The Irish Viking The One, Seven, and Nine were the ones Sauron helped design, and thus the ones that actively latch on to desire for power to corrupt their bearers. The Three were made BEFORE Sauron got involved. Indeed, Sauron got the idea from their creation in the first place. But all the Great Rings have the ability to cling, to be very difficult to forget or relinquish. It is a safety feature so that guarding such a powerful magical object becomes instinctive and a major consideration at all times to the wearer, giving it away would be an extreme endeavor and so would never be done lightly, and throwing it carelessly away unthinkable. The Seven and Nine were designed to also corrupt, and the One was actively sentient, malicious, and had the greater part of Sauron's power to reinforce both the clinging and the corruption. Bilbo gave it up with only a bit of will after the One had been corrupting his mind passively for half a century, and no, he kept it in his pocket most of the time and used it frequently to avoid company when he didn't want to be social. Samwise gave it up without hesitation even when it was bending much of it's power to try and corrupt and tempt him because it knew they were planning on destroying it. Frodo resisted it's influence for MONTHS, even as it constantly got more and more active and bent more and more of it's power on him, and only gave in at the VERY EDGE OF DESTROYING IT, when out of absolute desperation it hit him with all of its power in a last ditch attempt to survive, something it had never had to do before.

think i remember that in middle earth those with power have the hardest time giving things up which is why of the...4? 5? hobbits that have held the ring the ones affected the most are the ones who physically held it the longest samwise was near it but only held it once biblo had it for years but kept it hidden away rather than carry it with him frodo held it longer than most mortals would be able to but eventually caved gollum... yeah cant remember the last one but I swear there was another who held the ring after the king of man failed to destroy it and it was lost (edit) oh and the power that the hobbits are giving up is the ring itself
